SEO is the acronym for “search engine optimization.” It is the continuing process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. Currently, there are only 10 organic search results per page by default. This number can be increased by individual users on their own browsers, but as professionals, we only base ranking on the default settings. The 10 results do not include ads or map listings.
Google Map listings results, at this writing, are three. Those three results are determined by optimization of the Google My Business listings and distance from the user doing the search. So, if you have a business address in a location 20 miles away from the user’s location, your listing will not likely be shown under the map. Search Engine Land has a detailed explanation of Search Engine Optimization.
